Dharamshala Adventure Trek

Dharamshala – the word sounds like a place of god. This place was awesome, the view we observed in the Dharamshala was best. Now the journey was started from Ahmedabad to Pathankot, from Pathankot we went through buses to Dharamkot.

We went to Dharamshala on 15th December 2018 by train from Ahmedabad, but actually, journey was started 1 month ago, discussing what things will we carry, which places will we cover, shall we take googles, lets put the playing card, we made the whole list of what will we do there, we also made a plan to dance in the snow… In our language excitement overloaded. Now let us go back to the story, 1 month later trip begins full of energy.

Our stay was in Dharamkot, we reached there at night as from Pathankot to Dharamkot there was a distance of 5 to 6 hrs. Our trekking started from the next day in the morning 8 O clock sharp followed by our breakfast.

We went to Bhagsu temple which was a small trek, but the road was not so good. There were many rocky roads through which trekking was very difficult and in Himachal Pradesh everywhere there were slanting roads. But as a trekker, I always chose a difficult trek. Back in the story, we had started trekking there was a cold atmosphere with sun rays falling on the trees and make the atmosphere cold and beautiful.

The above image can show how difficult trek was, then after these rocky roads, there came stairs which were easy then walking on the rocky, many people get tired while climbing up the stairs of this Bhagsu temple, then, at last, reached the destination, there was a beautiful waterfall. I can say one thing, just try to listen to the voice of that water by closing your eyes, will feel nice instead of clicking pictures over there. Everyone was saying that “We are tired now when trek will be over”. Our instructor told us that It was just a trailer real movie would start from next day. After the waterfall, there was a trek to the temple that was a tough trek.

Then came a trek where there were only stones and no road, if our leg slipped then there was no chance to get back as there was a narrow road, it was quite risky, we were trekking with the support of one another as if one stone also rolls then it can get you in the trouble.

You can watch this narrow road which was very difficult, then, at last, we reached there and enjoyed the view from there. But very few people trekked here as it was risky. I being an adventure lover felt “Woh trek he kya jisme risk na ho”. This was the first-day trek.

Now coming to the second-day trek, here there was a trek to Triund which was at 9300 ft from the sea level, it was the toughest trek ever done in life. As per schedule, we had started the trek in the morning at 7 O’clock followed by breakfast.

We started trekking with packed lunch as it was a long trek, carried water bottles as the destination was at height, water was costly there, after this, we had started the trek with clicking pictures of views.

In our trek road to Triund, there were many maggie shops, water bottle shops. We were traveling through the forest, we were instructed that there may be snakes or wolves in the forest so see around and then travel. We were afraid of these words. After 3 hours of trek, we were getting tired, we started playing songs which give us the motivation to climb the mountain. We were playing songs like “Kar har maidaan fateh”

Some donkeys were used for carrying water bottles at heights, they were also trekking with us in this stony road. While trekking the most important thing is getting a good company, and the main support is the atmosphere of Dharamshala. It was just awesome walking on this road was the best experience. There was no built road here where we can even bring a bike or something to go to Triund but only thing is to trek to this peak.

After trekking up to 4 hours we found this type of snow, we started playing with this snow and enjoying the snow. There is one quote in Hindi “Manzil se zyada safar badhiya hona chahiye”. After passing through this snow and narrow trek, these things boost our energy and full of energy with dancing and singing, we started trekking further. There is one rule of trekking, never rest for more time, it will make you more tired demotivate yourself, best practice for trekking is a race with someone. There is human nature they like competitions more then the trek, it found funny but true.

There were some peoples in our group whose health was gone bad but still trying to trek. Some were saying “Abb nahi hoga”. As we had almost done 5 hours of trek. After that our eyes surprised by seeing the beautiful view of a snowy mountain peak. When you can see your destination, your leg started moving fast, and your mind started saying now it is very easy to conquer destiny. This line is the same for the trek and even it is the same for your journey of life. Trekking with full of tired, with paining legs as we had done 6 hours of trek to reach our destination and finally we reached our destiny.

This is the place that we tell the Triund peak. We had traveled 6 hours to see this view, this was the best I had ever seen. So finally we had reached to 9300 ft of height with full of joy. Everyone was tired but I was enjoying the weather and the atmosphere. We ate maggie there of Rs. 60. As this point was located at height food, water bottles, grocery items everything is costly.

Triund peak is a peak surrounded by snow everywhere, there was also the facility of a tent that was provided if you wish to stay 1 night there. Staying here in the tent was quite risky as a snowstorm can also make your night horrible. We were standing at a place where there was no tiredness, very cool weather, 360 degrees surrounded by snow. Everyone was clicking pictures of this heart touching view, as trekking here was also one adventure. We started playing with snow and clicking pics with throwing snow at each other. One vibe came to my heart that just stay here, and never go down and back to Ahmedabad. I just want to stay there at this place. But as this was not possible, as enjoyment is for some time but life will run for a lifetime. After clicking the group pictures we started returning to the Dharamkot.

We had started returning trek at approx 3 O clock pm, the sun was started going down as it was mid-afternoon, and in the hilly areas sun sets earlier than in the city. We have to reach back before sunsets and night starts. As trekking in the night and that also in this forest was quite risky, we can also meet animals or snakes in the night. This was our target but we are not Krish or Superman that we jump and come down from hill to ground, time started running fast and we can observe the beautiful view of shiny mountains when the sun rays touch the white snow. This makes the mountain looks like gold, it is the best view you can observe in the hills. I love trekking as while trek you can also observe this surrounding and beautiful weather.

Our target was to complete trek before sunsets but sometimes what can we do against nature, now time was 5.30 pm. We saw this beautiful view of the sunset, we enjoyed this view and started trekking further. I had also carried a torch with me which was very useful when there was no sunlight. We were trekking from the forest covered with trees and plants, hence there was no light that we can see the way. Our group was scattered, some of the team were forward and somewhere back. I and one of my friend were trekking together. There was night no light and it was a task to find the right way in the forest when you are alone. If by mistake also we take the wrong trek then we will be in the forest for a lifetime or we can also meet wild animals which were very risky. As without such risk, there is no adventure, there came a diversion where there was two ways one to go down and another to go in the forest, there was one shop of maggie near that diversion, we asked them for the right way and walked further.

After completing 12 hours of trek we had reached by trekking in the night to the Dharamkot, my nails were fully gone black due to the blood clotting as there was a long adventurous trek. We were very much tired but those memories of trekking were lifelong.
